How Could A Thirsty Dog Wind Up In An Attic And Not Be Discovered Until A Jacksonville, FL Home Inspector Went Up There?

Recently I was doing a home inspection on an older home here in Jacksonville, FL and once again I found something new and exciting. At first glance it appears that there was one thirsty dog in the attic. What really happened was that whoever the genius was that installed the air handler didn’t run the condensation drain line to the exterior of the home. What Einstein (the genius I referred to earlier) did was make a short run and have it terminate over a dog bowl. So what’s the big deal? Condensation constantly discharges from the air handler, and the doggy bowl will only hold a small amount of condensation. Before to long, the condensation draining into the doggy bowl will overflow and the condensation will fall to the floor below. After enough condensation spills onto the floor of the attic, water stains will appear below. This is another classic example of “What Were They Thinking?”
